What makes these different from a generic hook list?
Each hook follows one of 10 named formulas (result first, pattern interrupt, specific number, open question and more), and each formula is matched to the goal you pick. A hook built for saves and one built for comments do different jobs; they aren't the same line reworded.
Why does each hook have a spoken line AND an overlay line?
A viewer scrolling with the sound off only sees on-screen text. The overlay is written to say something different from the spoken line, so a silent viewer still gets the promise.
What does 'first frame' mean?
It's what should be visible in the very first frame of the video, before anyone speaks. The formula's note explains why (for a pattern-interrupt hook, don't open on a still face waiting to talk).
